Ric Mergenhagen
Ric Mergenhagen, Board President of Habitat for Humanity of SBC, has enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for over ten years. Initially working on new builds during community volunteer days, he ultimately joined the leadership team as construction skills leader and teams coordinator. Ric, a graduate of Texas Tech University, started his career as a Chemical Engineer at Dow Chemical and honed operations and leadership skills during his 30-year tenure. Using this experience, Ric finds it rewarding to teach part-time at Brazosport College, training new-hire production plant operators to be successful. Ric, his wife Laura, and one of two beautiful daughters and grandson live in Lake Jackson. In his spare time, he volunteers at St. Mark Lutheran Church, The Food Basket food pantry, and other non-profits. As a Sixth Degree Black Belt, Ric practices and teaches Tai Chi and Qigong at a local martial arts school.
